1. About The Lending House PTY LTD.
The Lending House is a private company. Our primary function is to assist people who want to borrow money to obtain loans.

The Lending House is subject to Part IIIA of the Privacy Act 1988 (which deals with credit reporting and information) but not the other parts of the Act. However we are voluntarily committed to good privacy practices in accordance with the National Privacy Principles in the Act.

2. This document and your consent
In this document, we explain how we deal with personal information. By giving us personal information, or allowing us to collect it, you consent to us dealing with it as set out in this document.

3. What we mean by "personal information"
The National Privacy Principles apply to "personal information". That means "personal information means information or an opinion (including information or an opinion forming part of a database), whether true or not, and whether recorded in a material form or not, about an individual whose identity is apparent, or can reasonably be ascertained, from the information or opinion."
The Lending House deals with personal information. When we talk about "dealing with" information, we mean collecting it and / or using it and / or disclosing it.

4. Consultants
Some of our consultants are contractors, and we exchange personal information with them. Although they are legally independent, they are part of our team and deal in the same personal information as we do. There is a free flow of information between us and our consultants for the purpose of operating our business.

5. Credit reports
With your consent, we may obtain a credit report about you from a credit-reporting agency.

6. Personal information that we deal with

Who we disclose it to We might provide name and contact details to loan applicants or borrowers on occasions when there is some reason to put the loan applicants or borrowers in direct contact with the lender or potential lender. With that exception, we do not disclose this information.
What happens if we cannot get this information? We may not be able to communicate efficiently with lenders or potential lenders.

What happens if we cannot get this information? We will not be able to contact or communicate with the person or their organisation, or do business with them.

Kind of personal information we deal with Name, residential and business contact details, detailed financial information, credit information, credit report, employment details and history, residential history, age, dependants, educational achievements, tax returns, salary details, assets, liabilities, marital status
What we do with it We use this information to assess capacity to borrow, to identify suitable lenders, to advise on the most suitable loan arrangement/s, to complete and submit loan applications as required by lenders and potential lenders, to facilitate the production of letters of offer and other loan documentation by lenders and potential lenders, to communicate with loan applicants and intending loan applicants. We may also use personal information you provide for direct marketing of products and other services offered by or available through The Lending House or an organisation we are affiliated with or represent. You have the right to request not to receive direct marketing material.
Who we disclose it to We may disclose personal information as required by law, or to any organisation involved with considering or providing a loan to you, or any other associates or contractors of The Lending House, including, for example, statement printing houses, mail houses, lawyers, accountants, or people considering acquiring or taking an interest in our business or our assets.
What happens if we cannot get this information? We would not be able to effectively undertake our primary function i.e. assist intending borrowers to obtain a loan.

7. Health information and sensitive information
We do not deal with health information or sensitive information within the meaning of the Privacy Act.

8. Access
You may be entitled to gain access to personal information we hold about you, subject to certain restrictions or exemptions in the Privacy Act.

9. Our policies on management of personal information
We require our staff to adhere to the National Privacy Principles.
We do not generally use personal information for any secondary purpose that is not stated in this document, and if we do, we do so in accordance with the National Privacy Principles.
We take reasonable steps to keep personal information under our control secure.
We require our staff to observe good data, computer and network security practices.
We review data we hold from time to time and destroy any that we consider is no longer required, and is not again likely to be required, for our primary function, and is not required to be retained by law.
